New program offers selected authors republication at no cost, along with a media campaign announcing each book’s return to the market
United States, 26th Oct 2026 — Apateon Press today announced the launch of its Republishing Program, which helps authors bring previously published books back to readers. The program is offered free of charge to authors of selected backlist titles and books whose rights have reverted to them.

Books go out of print for many reasons. A publisher may discontinue a title, a publishing agreement may end, or a book may simply become unavailable over time. Authors in that position often hold the rights to their work but lack the production resources or the visibility to return it to the market. The Republishing Program is intended to address that gap.
For books accepted into the program, Apateon will prepare a new edition of the book, publish it on Amazon.com, and make it available for retail sales. Authors can add new material to the republished version, such as interviews or author insights. Apateon may organize a media campaign to announce its return to the market as part of the book’s republication. The work required will depend on the condition of the existing manuscript, cover, and production files. There are no author fees or later chargebacks for the republication program.
“We are in dialogue with authors with established followings, but whose books have reverted to them or gone out of print,” said Hugh Taylor, President of Apateon Press. “We can put titles back in front of those audiences without requiring the authors to pay a fee for the service. This was once a prohibitively expensive proposition, but recent advances in digital publishing make free republishing feasible for books that have an audience.”
The program is open to authors in several situations, including those who:
- published with a traditional publisher and have since had the rights revert to them;
- hold the necessary rights to an out-of-print title;
- previously self-published a book and wish to bring it back to market; or
- have a backlist of titles they would like to make available again.
Each title will be considered individually. Confirmation of the necessary rights is essential, and the availability of suitable publication materials will help determine the feasibility of republication. Republication is subject to eligibility, rights verification, and agreement on the scope of the service.
Authors or their representatives interested in the program may learn more and schedule a conversation with Apateon Press at https://apateonpress.com/republishing/.
